About Tracy

I studied Journalism and worked for a variety of newspapers and magazines before moving into college lecturing in Media.

However, English was my first love and over time I moved towards tutoring English and then teaching it in schools. I have worked in a variety of secondary schools while also tutoring. These include: Mainstream and private secondary schools teaching pupils of all abilities; and special schools with autistic,dyslexic pupils who often have other issues such as ADD, ADHD, Tourettes, and cognitive difficulties.

I have degrees in Teaching and Training and Creative Writing and English Literature. As well as further qualifications in Business (specialising in Journalism) and Education.

I also have many years of experience writing both fiction and non fiction. I write books and short stories but have not gone as far as trying to get them published. Although I have studied the process and have knowledge of best ways to get to publishers.

Because of the time spent writing and studying methods, I have an interest in the way literature is formed. This means I love passing on this knowledge and enthusiasm to my students.

About the lesson

I am a former journalist and an experienced teacher with over 25 years of practice.

Creative Writing/Dissertations/|Thesis or other writing:
If I am working to help with general writing or creative tasks I ask questions about the needs of my students and suggest the best way forward working to their individual needs.

For those who want to get qualifications:
I am very much exam orientated and have knowledge of all GCSE boards.

For students with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, or on the Autistic spectrum:
I have taught in schools specializing in these areas and have suggestions to make English and writing easier.

I teach mostly adults and secondary level students (Year 7 upwards) and am very experienced in GCSE. I also have experience in helping with Thesis planning and writing; essays; business writing; short story and book planning and writing.

I find an hour-long lesson is the perfect length of time.
