About Lucy
I am a current jazz student at one of the top conservatoires in the world, with 8 years experience in writing and performing in a variety of notable venues across the UK, including with my own band at the celebrated London Jazz Festival.
I specialise in jazz singing, songwriting and composition and music theory but I am interested in anything my students bring to the table!

Hi! It's lovely to meet you. My name is Lucy and I am a jazz student at a top UK conservatoire looking to help you grow and develop in your musical journey.
Music truly is for everyone and I take great pride and joy in helping those of any ability pursue and achieve your goals. There are many areas I may be able to help you out in, including:
- Vocal coaching: working on pop/jazz vocal technique to improve tone, flexibility, strength and help you access your full range
- Improvisation: as a jazz singer, I know how daunting this can seem at first glance, but also how rewarding the process of learning is! I can help you learn how to transcribe, navigate jazz harmony (early jazz, bebop, modal and modern) and find rhythmic freedom and independence
- Essential singer skills: how to practice, how to call tunes in a jazz jam environment, how to choose the best key for your voice and how to lead and run rehearsals and jam sessions
- Songwriting: I can help you how to write lyrics that express the story you want to tell in your music, find chord progressions that reflect the mood of your lyrics, develop interesting, engaging melodies and develop charts to present to a band when your songs are ready to perform
- Jazz composition: I am also a jazz composer and arranger, with my works being performed in a variety of concert venues and jazz clubs across the UK. I can help you find ways to realise half-formed ideas, orchestrate existing small-group compositions or even start from scratch on your compositional journey
- Music theory: I can teach music theory up to A-level standard
I would suggest an hour lesson for most students. Much younger budding musicians may benefit from a shorter amount of time and this can be agreed on an individual basis!
