About Olivia
I have been teaching chess for over seven years and have worked with students of all ages and levels. My experience has given me the ability to explain concepts clearly, whether to a beginner learning the rules or to an intermediate player refining advanced strategies. Throughout my teaching journey, I have guided learners preparing for tournaments, school competitions, and casual improvement. Many of my students have achieved noticeable growth in both their rating and confidence. I pride myself on adapting lessons to suit each individual’s pace and goals. What drives me as a chess tutor is my belief in the value of the game beyond the board. Chess teaches discipline, patience, and critical thinking. I design lessons not only to improve playing strength but also to help students apply these skills in everyday life.

My chess lessons begin with the fundamentals, ensuring students understand piece movement, board control, and simple tactical ideas. I introduce common opening principles to establish good habits from the start, helping learners avoid early mistakes and gain confidence as they develop a solid foundation in the game.
As students advance, I emphasize strategic planning and positional play. We explore pawn structures, piece coordination, and middlegame tactics through puzzles and game analysis. This training allows learners to recognize recurring patterns and make stronger, more calculated decisions during competitive or casual play.
Another major focus of my lessons is mastering the endgame. Students practice king and pawn endings, basic checkmating patterns, and practical conversion techniques. By strengthening endgame knowledge, learners gain the confidence to turn small advantages into victories, a crucial skill for long-term chess success.
