About Tara
Hi! I am 17 years old and have been playing cello for 9 years. I have had the chance to perform in numerous honor orchestras, chamber ensembles, pit orchestra, marching band, and community events. Over the years, I’ve earned 1st place in music festivals and completed all 10 levels of the Certificate of Merit program with state honors in the upper levels. In addition to performing, I’ve spent over a year teaching cello to a beginner elementary student. I bring this teaching experience, along with my training in music theory (from the AP Music Theory exam), into my lessons so my students get a comprehensive understanding of music. In all, I really love music and hope I can share this passion with others!

I've had experience teaching a beginner student for over a year so I believe that every student has different learning styles. I tailor lessons to fit their strengths and challenges, but in a wider perspective I balance musicality and technique by working through solo repertoire, scales, etudes, basic fundamentals, and orchestral excerpts. I also bring in music theory and ear training in lessons because these skills deepen a student’s understanding and interest in music and can be applied to enhance the student's playing skills. I give progressive assignments for students to complete by the next lesson. I am here to create a supportive and fun environment where students feel encouraged to grow and reach their full potential on the cello.
