• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  A longtime software developer, I had an epiphany in December 2021 at a UX workshop organized by my college club, where I was a coordinator. After the insightful session, I dove into UX research, fascinated by the field. I started designing in Figma, fell in love with the process, and took up tutelage from the talented workshop speaker. I steadily mastered UX design and felt it suited me better than coding. More than solving problems, I found joy in crafting experiences. UX captured me with its focus on understanding users to elevate their interactions. My passion for design was ignited.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  To be perfectly honest, I love teaching, though I didn't realize it until I started tutoring on Superprof. My girlfriend was the motivation behind my teaching career. She helped me recognize that I could be an effective teacher. I used to teach her programming just for fun, clearing up her doubts by using real-world examples to clarify concepts. Now we're no longer in contact, so in remembrance of her, I began teaching on Superprof. This is my way of making true what she said - that I could become an excellent teacher. Tutoring allows me to share my passion while honouring her belief in me.

• How does your work help society?

  I have had the privilege of helping to elevate design skills in many people, which empowers them to serve society through design - solving user problems or earning as freelancers/running agencies. For some, I have created fruitful side hustles. For others, I have assisted in honing skills to obtain fulfilling jobs and find contentment in our current society. My aim is to enable personal growth while making a broader impact. By cultivating design talents in others, I hope to multiply the force for good in solving modern challenges. It is deeply rewarding to see my students blossom in purpose and ability.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  Don Norman and APJ Abdul Kalam served as my role models, influencing my vocation. Without Don Norman, we could not even envision the world of UX, as he pioneered the field. APJ Abdul Kalam showed me the heart of an educator - how to empathize with students, cultivate greatness within them, and lead by gentle example. He embodied a teacher's compassion and wisdom. Together, these visionaries shaped both what I do and how I aim to do it. Norman created the foundation for user-centred design and an accessible future. Kalam revealed the light within each student. I strive to honour both legacies - designing with users in mind and teaching with care, empathy and inspiration. These exceptional innovators fuel my passion to make a difference.

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  When not freelancing and. teaching, I enjoy reading, watching movies and anime, and writing movie scripts. Immersing in fiction provides an enriching escape and sparks ideas for my work. These creative pursuits energize me while offering respite from my hectic schedule. My hobbies and freelancing/Teaching sustain each other, fueling my storytelling passion and grounding me in narrative details.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  As mentioned earlier, my girlfriend Manasa was whom I used to teach programming. One endearing anecdote I experienced with her was her enthusiasm and curiosity for learning. One day I called and asked if she wanted to learn front-end development. Though an electronics background, it wouldn't directly help her career goals. Yet when I questioned her motivation despite this, she shared an insight that forever stuck with me: "Never assume something won't help. Everything we learn in life has a purpose."
  The way she embraced each opportunity with an open mindset and eagerness to grow made a lasting impression. Though a small moment, her perspective gave me a vital boost in my own career. She taught me to approach every skill with curiosity, without limiting assumptions about its value. Knowledge itself is power when sought with an inquisitive spirit. Manasa embodied this, and her attitude of joyful learning for its own sake still motivates me to expand my horizons. She showed me that our interests need not be confined by presumed usefulness. A lesson in passion and purpose that I carry with me.
