Being Aotearoa New Zealand’s largest city, you would expect Auckland to have a wide range of tennis courts and you would be right. While it can be tempting to go with the best price or the best facilities, it is important to consider the distance and practicality of getting to them. If you are thinking of heading south, check out the tennis clubs in Wellington.
Being the largest city does come with a few downsides and traffic is one of them. So when looking at different places to play it is important to factor in when you will most likely hit the courts. For example, if you are wanting to play during the weekdays during your lunch break, it would be a good idea to look for courts close to your place of work. If you are wanting to play competitively, you may want the facilities to be closer to your home so you can go in the mornings or during the weekend.
It is all about what works for you and your lifestyle. When signing up for membership it is for the year, so while the upfront cost may seem expensive, it is a good idea to remain realistic and committed to how many times you will use those facilities over that period of time. For those unsure about purchasing a membership, there are clubs that allow you to try before you buy and others that allow non-members to play for a fee.
