About Michele

I have been teaching music for 15 years now, both in person and online. I'm chilled, friendly and empathic, but also very professional, punctual and organized. I have worked with a significant variety of students of all ages and became a better teacher myself after working with very young kids. My experience with great instructors from Berklee College of Music has led me to develop my own teaching method that so far has given me great results with my students! Their goals are my main goals, and every time I see their progress, I become more and more sure that this will always be my dream job.

Playing guitar is not only pressing the right frets with your fingers! My teaching method is very personal and based on each student’s needs and goals: I will drive you in discovering the whole guitar world, in perceiving the instrument as an alternative voice you can express yourself with and even in coming up with your own original music. I will be there to listen to your needs and if you trust me, in just a few months you will be able to call yourself a musician!

  • When did your passion for music and your favorite instrument begin?

I've always had a strong connection to music, with my earliest memories dating back to when I was very young. I remember being fascinated watching and listening to my uncle Toni play the piano and guitar. As a child, my parents gifted me my first guitar when I was only 4 years old. I still remember that moment as one of the happiest days of my life. I had been asking for a guitar for some time, and finally, on Christmas 1996, I found it under the tree. It was an indescribable feeling.
  • Is there a particular music genre or artist you listen to on repeat without getting tired of it?

As a teenager, I discovered artists like Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and bands like Mr. Big, Metallica, and Iron Maiden, and I listened to their music nonstop. Then, I began exploring other genres like bossa nova, jazz, and many more. Today, I consider myself very open to various styles, although I have a deep interest in fusion, jazz, rock, and classical music. Today, both as a teacher and an artist, I try to explore anything that brings new colors-something that rock and metal, at a certain point, could no longer offer me. Since I compose original music, every style that differs from the genre I grew up with becomes a source of inspiration.
  • What is the most difficult or exciting course you could personally teach to a music student?

I can prepare students for auditions at some of the most prestigious music schools, like the Berklee College of Music and Musicians Institute. I want to emphasize that I work with some very determined individuals, and in a short time, both my students and I have seen great results. To reach a high level, an instructor can help only up to a point; from there, it's the student's responsibility to commit and study. I can help students understand music theory and explore every corner of the guitar, or teach them how to learn a specific song they desire.
  • In your opinion, what is the most difficult instrument to master, and why?

The trumpet. Achieving a good sound and maintaining excellent intonation on the trumpet is really challenging, in my opinion. Of course, it's all about practice. However, for example, if I take a violin, cello, or other wind instruments like the saxophone or clarinet, I've always been able to produce decent sounds, even when playing the instrument for the first time. With the trumpet, however, I've yet to produce a decent sound because the coordination between the breath and lip positioning is more complex compared to other wind instruments.
  • What are the keys to your success?

Patience, determination, love for music, and having fun while doing what I do.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting at your favorite bar in the early morning hours. Explain why.

    - Steve Vai: I've already met him a couple of times, and besides being an incredible musician, he's also a really wonderful person who radiates a lot of positive energy. I grew up with his music and attended several of his Master Classes. His way of speaking really fascinated me, and unknowingly, Steve has encouraged me a lot. I have a deep affection for him.

    - Mike Stern: A fantastic musician and, equally, a great person. I had the opportunity to become friends with him here in New York, and he even hosted me at his home once. I honestly don't know what else to add; I feel privileged to have spent time with a new friend who, at the same time, is a music legend. Mike is sensitive, sweet, and kind; fundamentally, his presence makes me feel good. I care deeply for him.

    - Matthew Garrison: I met Matt here in New York, and, what can I say, I had the chance to play with him at his venue, Shapeshifter Lab. I believe he ranks among the top 5 bass players I've ever heard perform live. He's also incredibly kind and approachable. I have a deep affection for him.
  • Share a valuable anecdote related to music or your time at music school.

What has always fascinated me is listening to the stories of musicians who have managed to do great things. By "great things," I don't just mean success, but also the ability to achieve certain things on their instrument or compose something truly interesting. When I was at the Berklee College of Music, I met so many incredibly talented people. Among them, I remember Tim Miller fondly, who was also one of my instructors. He's an extraordinary guitarist, and having the chance to talk with him, hearing about his story and how he studied as a young man to achieve certain results, really struck me. Sometimes, when you have a great teacher, you need to be able to listen to their story because, very often, you can learn a lot from that as well.
  • What are the little details that make you a Superprof in music?

Being patient and understanding. I always try to identify what my student needs and find an alternative way to make sure things can work. Every person is different, so I always aim to understand them deeply in order to help them reach their goals in the best possible way.
