About Téa
If you're struggling to fit the mold as an American student, I understand.
Many students internalize the feeling of not reaching expectations in class through no fault of their own. Learning is not a one-size-fits-all experience. Unfortunately, with education continually underfunded, and parents overworked, many students are left falling through the cracks. I was that student.
Thankfully, through trial and error, many hours of research and independent study, I was able to find a way to make learning work for me. I am now a senior at UC Berkeley, completing a degree in the field I am passionate about, and furthering my connection to knowledge as a tool. I want to help you do the same.
I utilize my background of 8 years in journalism & research, 3 years as a Teaching Assistant in the humanities, and 4 years of undergraduate studies in social and natural sciences to tailor lesson plans to each student. I strive to help each student understand their learning style and gain deeper understanding of the world.

I tutor elementary through high school levels and strive to meet all students where they're at.
Before lessons begin, I will work together with student and guardian to best understand where the student is struggling or where they can improve, the curriculum they are following and where I can help supplement or broaden their learning. *I prefer students take a quick questionnaire on learning styles so I can best tailor teaching methods to each individual, which can be completed independently and emailed to me before lessons begin.*
A typical lesson would begin with a real-world connection as a case study, tying in material from the student's school curriculum to ensure we are advancing at the rate needed, while encouraging the student to find interest in the subject itself.
My philosophy is teaching to learn, not just to memorize! This will allow knowledge to move with the student, where they can apply it to further studies. My students should walk away from each lesson with greater confidence and curiosity.
