About Maeve

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Music and have 5 years of experience teaching guitar to students of various ages and musical backgrounds. My own journey with the guitar began over a decade ago, and since then, it has been both a creative outlet and a professional path. Teaching allows me to share not just the technical side of guitar playing, but also the joy and expression that come with it. My teaching philosophy centers on building a strong foundation while keeping lessons enjoyable and relevant. I focus on essential skills like chord building, strumming techniques, and fretboard understanding, but I always adapt my approach to suit the individual student. Whether someone wants to play casually, write songs, or pursue formal music study, I make sure lessons align with their personal goals and pace. I have worked with students interested in a variety of genres including rock, pop, acoustic, and blues. I enjoy helping each player find their sound and style, encouraging creativity alongside discipline. I also provide support for practical goals like learning specific songs, preparing for performances, or passing music exams. My goal is always to help students become confident, independent musicians. Outside of teaching, I continue to perform, record, and collaborate with other musicians, which keeps my teaching fresh and informed by real-world experience. I bring that energy into my lessons, aiming to inspire students not just to play the guitar, but to truly connect with music in a lasting and meaningful way.

About the lesson

These guitar lessons are designed to be practical, flexible, and engaging for students at any level, from absolute beginners to more experienced players. Each lesson is structured to build confidence, musical understanding, and solid technique while staying aligned with the student's personal goals and interests. Whether you're aiming to play your favorite songs, understand music theory, or prepare for a performance, lessons are tailored to meet you where you are.

Core topics include chord construction, strumming and rhythm patterns, and fretboard navigation. These essential elements form the backbone of guitar playing and are introduced through hands-on practice, song-based learning, and exercises that reinforce both accuracy and creativity. Students learn not only how to play, but also how to listen, think, and grow as musicians. Emphasis is placed on building good habits and developing a strong, clean sound from the beginning.

As students progress, lessons expand into areas like fingerstyle techniques, improvisation, and music theory application. Depending on the student's interests, we may explore various genres—from pop and rock to blues, folk, or classical. Repertoire is chosen to suit the student’s taste while offering technical and musical challenges to promote steady development. Creative exploration is encouraged alongside structured practice.

Beyond regular instruction, support is also provided for exam preparation, songwriting, and performance readiness. Students receive guidance on how to structure their practice, overcome challenges, and stay motivated. The overall aim is to help each guitarist build both skill and confidence, developing a lifelong connection with music through the instrument.
