  • Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

My first experience using a computer was at school when I was around 8 years old. Windows XP was already released but we were still running on Windows 95 to play educational games for kids. When I was 12, I built my first computer from scratch with my father's help. I assembled a few PCs as a teenager and at 15 I was picking and ordering each individual pieces myself (motherboard, CPU, RAM, graphic card and all).
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

Blockchain. It is still fascinating me to be honest. An internet 3.0 is being created and it is a place for safe data, fast and reliable transmission for messages, files and even money. It will hopefully make up for some human flaws in relation to trust and record keeping.
  • Explain your expertise, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

As a passionate designer and web developer, I spend hours each week researching blockchain-based projects such as Ethereum and - of course - Bitcoin. There aren't many ways to learn other than surfing the vastness of the internet because of the topic's young age. Great platforms even create games to help you understand the code and theory behind them. (https://tezosacademy.io/ is a good example)

Blockchain is becoming more and more known to the general public and big corporations are gradually implementing and using these systems to make their infrastructures safer and faster. More and more apps and web-apps are being built on blockchains so it'll soon be a great plus in the CV and portfolio for a web-developer.
  • Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

I have a few role models that I like not to set in stone, so to say. I like to always challenge who I look up to in order to avoid blindly believing in a guru. Here are two people I look up to: Matt d'Avella, a great YouTuber and film-maker who just released a Netflix documentary about Minimalism and living intentionally; and Ali Abdaal, another great YouTuber who tackles topics around productivity and - in a podcast he created with his brother - happiness and human condition.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

At some point when I was in art school, I experienced tough self-doubt related to the usefulness of my chosen path for the greater good. Why am I dedicating all my time to art when this world needs doctors, nurses, scientists, and so on…? Isn't art a bit of a waste of time?

A doctor I met then told me "Absolutely not! If we are fixing people up, it is for them to come back to the world and enjoy what artists make along with everything else that makes life worth living."
  • What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

It is quite complicated. But that's because it is also very powerful. Patience, dedication and curiosity are the keys to this powerful technology.
  • What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

I have been playing music my whole life (drums, guitar, bass and vocals), I love video games, photography, videography and cinema.
  • What makes you a Superprof in IT?

My patience and genuine desire to help people get comfortable with tech.
