About Matt
Hi there! I've got a whole lot of professional experience working at Abbey Road Studios in London for 8 years as a Recording and Mix Engineer and have worked with some of the most critically acclaimed artists in the world (Frank Ocean's Blonde, James Blake, Brockhampton, Ezra Collective, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds). I hold a deep love for many styles of music but have a special affinity to new wave Jazz and have recorded and mixed many albums in this genre. I particularly enjoy blending live studio recording with more electronic based programming and manipulation. I also write and produce my own music and I make up one half of the duo Hong Kongleton. I have been tutoring for around 4 years now and have enjoyed witnessing the amazing improvements and pay off for my students from the lessons we have shared. Pro Tools and Ableton Live are my DAWs of choice but have had many students who use Logic, FL Studio etc I suggest you have a listen to the following Spotify playlist which will hopefully give you a good taste of whether you think you will resonate with my approach stylistically. Perfect! Perhaps Matt is a mind reader of sorts. For the issue with one of my compositions my fantasy was - an easy solution :-) Matt kindly considered the issue in my piece and gave recommendations perfectly aligned with where I am in my learning journey. I am so excited that I can now get on with solving the issue on my own. The points Matt made in today's lesson ( in regards to volume and being mindful of the lower cello frequencies) are transformative for me. Not only in regards to my current compositions. I will apply them in my future work. I feel empowered so thank you Matt!
Perfect! **Matt Mysko: The Alchemist of Sound**
In the crucible of music, where raw elements await transformation, Matt Mysko is a true alchemist, refining sonic lead into pure gold. From the legendary Abbey Road Studios, he has shaped the sounds of Frank Ocean, James Blake, and Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, while breathing new life into the UK jazz scene with Ezra Collective, Nubiyan Twist, and Tenderlonious.
But Mysko is more than a master of the mix—he is a mentor, forging students into mixing warriors. With the wisdom of an alchemist, he reveals the hidden science of sound, empowering each learner to unlock their own creative elixir.
Now, from his studio in Bristol, his artistry transcends borders, offering remote mixing that transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. In Matt Mysko, we find not just an engineer, but a philosopher of sound—one who distills music’s essence with the precision of a master craftsman. Like fire shaping iron, his hands temper raw talent, forging it into something unbreakable—resonant, refined, and ready to leave its mark on the world.- Matt's response :
Perfect! Mat is a patient and knowledgeable tutor. He was very responsive to my needs and provided very clear and helpful information. Highly recommended!
Perfect! I requested a lesson from Matt in the format of written feedback about a song I had made. As well as commenting on the song, he provided some extremely inspiring words around creativity and the music industry - his paragraphs were both thoughtful and thought provoking.
I really appreciated his perspective and I look forward to having another lesson in the future.
Highly recommend.
Thank you so much!
