About Olivia
I’m a guitar tutor with over 9 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Studio Music and Jazz, with Guitar as my principal instrument. My passion is helping students use guitar in creative ways, especially for film scoring and video game soundtracks. I teach Electric, Acoustic, Classical, and Bass Guitar, depending on your goals and musical vision. Whether you're crafting soft ambient textures or bold thematic melodies, I’ll guide you through the techniques that bring soundtracks to life. I specialize in atmospheric playing, sound design, and thematic development tailored for media composition. We’ll explore how to use effects, layering, and digital audio workstations (DAWs) to shape mood and emotion. My teaching covers both the technical and artistic side of composing for visuals. I adapt lessons to fit your pace, experience level, and creative direction. I work well with both youth and adult learners who are excited about storytelling through music. Lessons are supportive, engaging, and focused on helping you turn your ideas into sound. My teaching approach focuses on building both creativity and control in lead guitar playing. I help students develop strong improvisation skills, clean phrasing techniques, and confident soloing. We work on classic blues and rock elements like bends, slides, and vibrato to give your solos feeling and power. I also teach how to shape your tone and timing for a more expressive sound.
Lessons include jam tracks, tone drills, and solos that match your skill level. I guide students through the process of finding their own voice on the guitar. Whether you’re just getting started with lead or looking to break through a plateau, I’m here to help. I’m especially good at working with curious jazz players and bold teenage rockers.
Every session is focused, supportive, and full of energy. I give clear feedback while pushing you to explore and take risks. You'll gain not just speed and accuracy, but also feel and emotion in every note. Together, we’ll build the technique and confidence needed to shred, solo, and truly speak through your guitar.
