I have had many years experiencing singing lessons and the benefits they can have on not just our vocal ability but also our confidence in day to day life. I believe every singer has their own voice and that should be nurtured and be given its day in the light instead of trying to suppress it into someone else's mold; we are our own worst critics, but as someone who has had to overcome those critical thoughts, when someone shows you how to believe in yourself, there is no stopping that wonderful force. Whether you are looking to have fun or to sing professionally, I will make it my goal to help you reach the best level possible.
My teaching style is based on practical music theory knowledge but also understanding placements of the four voices and how muscle memory is a vital part of training the voice ; So with me, you would not only learn how to correctly know when your voice is in the correct place for a song but also you would learn how to train your body and mind into going to a place of power with ease, without discomfort.
A performance is made on the feeling, not entirely the execution.
My knowledge in music theory is a strong aid and will allow me to play scales to match your range. My time volunteering for a charity as a singing teacher from adults with learning disabilities and to teaching students the same age as me at college has allowed me to adapt and think outside of the box when it comes to different learning and teaching styles. Making you feel comfortable but also leaving feeling educated is my top priority.
Learning through various vocal teachers and my current vocal teacher (yes even teachers need teachers!) over 9 years has allowed me to pick up on the attitude and professionalism required, but also how to be that shoulder to cry on when you feel like your voice is broke and its the end of the world. A teacher is there to support you and carry you further, and I love teaching what I love in hopes you will one day continue the gift of learning and enjoyment that comes with it on.
I have taught adults with learning disabilities to sing, in a group of 5 with both males and females and catered my teaching style to their needs.
I have also taught students who are of similar age to me and have they have gone on to practice singing and requesting vocal lessons from time to time to help with performances.
