About Ammara

I am Ammara Shahzad, a qualified Science and Secondary Biology teacher with a Master’s degree in Biotechnology and several years of teaching experience in international school settings across the UAE.

My journey into teaching began from a genuine interest in understanding how life works at a scientific level and a natural inclination toward explaining complex ideas in a simple way. Over time, I realized that my real strength was not only in studying Biology, but in helping others understand it with clarity and confidence. That realization is what led me into education.

Throughout my teaching career, I have worked with students from diverse academic backgrounds and curricula, including American, NGSS, and AP systems. This experience has helped me understand that every student learns differently, and effective teaching must adapt to those differences rather than follow a single rigid method.

What defines my approach is clarity, structure, and connection. I focus on building strong conceptual foundations, linking scientific ideas to real-life examples, and encouraging students to think critically rather than memorize. I aim to create an environment where students feel supported, confident, and unafraid to ask questions.

Teaching, for me, is not just a profession—it is a responsibility to make science understandable, accessible, and meaningful. My goal is to help students not only improve their grades, but also develop a lasting understanding and appreciation of Biology and the life sciences.

My teaching methodology is centered on making science clear, engaging, and meaningful for every learner. I believe students learn best when they understand the “why” behind concepts, not just the “what.” My lessons are interactive, structured, and adapted to each student’s level, learning style, and academic goals.

I use a combination of inquiry-based learning, real-life examples, visual explanations, and guided questioning to help students build deep conceptual understanding. Instead of relying on memorization, I focus on developing critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem-solving skills that students can apply in exams and beyond the classroom.

A typical lesson is carefully structured. We begin with a clear explanation of the topic, followed by step-by-step guided learning to break down difficult concepts. Students then practice through questions, discussions, and application-based tasks. Each lesson ends with a quick review or assessment to ensure understanding and track progress. Homework or targeted practice may be given to reinforce learning when needed.

I also regularly assess student progress and adjust my teaching approach accordingly, ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to improve confidently and consistently.

My goal is to create a supportive and motivating learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, actively participating, and building confidence in science. What makes my approach different is the focus on clarity, engagement, and long-term understanding rather than short-term memorization—helping students truly master Biology and related sciences.
