I am very open minded and comfortable tutoring any age/gender/etc, with or without specific learning needs.
I believe one must get to know a student first and recognise their individual needs before figuring out how best to help them as a learner. If it would make the student/parent more comfortable I would be happy to meet first for a chat before starting. Being positive and patient are key to maintaining a happy leaning environment.
I have been working as a Teacher Aide at a high school for the last 3+ years at the same school, working closely with years 9-10 students with a range of learning needs including autism, ADHD, anxiety, sight and behavioral issues. I have a BA in English and am planning on becoming a teacher in the next couple of years as I think helping others in their learning to be one of the most rewarding things in life.
I am free to tutor on weekends and after 3:30pm most weekdays.
Travel expense only applies if it is too far for me to walk to the arranged meeting spot.
Happy to tutor at the university library, a public library or some other similar place. Will meet first for free to figure out what you'd like to work on and anything that would be useful.
