About the lesson

Hello my name is Rachael I live in West London and really enjoy teaching. I am looking for pupils to share the enjoyment I get out of playing a musical instrument.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I provide clarinet, recorder, beginner piano lessons.
I can also provide theory lessons to enable completion of grade 5 theory

- Tell me about your qualifications.

I graduated from the Royal College of Music in 2014 with a Master in Performance degree on clarinet.
I gained a Bachelor of Music degree in performance on clarinet in 2012 - during my undergraduate degree I completed a professional skills instrumental teaching module
I have a ABRSM Performance Diploma on clarinet
I also have ABRSM grade 8 distinction on clarinet and grade 6 on Piano.

- How much do you charge?

For beginners half an hour lesson at £20.00
More advanced pupils £40.00 per hour
Theory £35 per hour

- Where do you teach?

I will travel to the pupils house making it convenient for the pupils. I currently live in Acton and teach in the following boroughs: Hounslow, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington.
Alternatively if you would prefer to have lessons at my home that can be arranged.

- When are you available?

I am currently looking to fill up my free slots on Thursday evening, Wednesday during the morning and afternoon.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach from age 5 upwards, Beginners to advanced grades. Children and Adults!
On clarinet I am currently teaching beginners up to grade diploma level.
On piano beginner up to grade 2
On recorder beginner up to grade 4
Theory up to Grade 5.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I can prepare the children for ABRSM Grade examinations but this is optional, I also teach children and adults who are just wanting to learn for fun.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I am happy to do skype lessons if you would prefer to have lessons online.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

Playing a musical instrument has to be enjoyable and a lot of fun, something should be gained from every lesson!
Lots of teacher encouragement is key to success and I believe the pupil must have a say in what they want to learn and their input in the lesson is extremely important.
One to one lessons are a fantastic way to learn an instrument, for a teacher it is a very rewarding way to teach as you can get to really know the pupil you are teaching and get their personalities to shine through when playing an instrument. One to one lessons are so important as they enable the pupil to gain a good technique and enhance musicality through the attention the teacher can give to a single pupil.
I really enjoy teaching, it is my passion and has been what I wanted to pursue a career in after finishing my masters degree.
