About Kate
I am a third-generation teacher, committed to not only giving you access to high-level modes of thinking combined with traditional technical instruction, I'm also really, really experienced with different modalities of learning. We all have strengths and weaknesses as artists. I've worked with many, many high-level artists both as a peer and a senior/leader.
I will also be honest with you and help you be realistic about your goals. I will never dissuade you from a goal, but I will make sure you know what you need to work on to get there.
What we assume is talent, 9 times out of 10, is hard work and skill. I can help with skill if you bring the effort.

Your goals come first. I tailor instruction to each student. Whether your goal is to just get better at art fundamentals or is something more concrete - you want to draw people, become an oil painter, or focus on character design, I'll design a curriculum to suit that.
My qualifications are extensive. I've worked in the games industry as a concept artist for over 20 years. I'm an internationally recognized oil painter with work in several galleries. I've techniques my entire career.
Typically lessons will include a weekly 1 hour session and assignment. There are opportunities to ask questions during the week while you work. I can also simply offer live feedback during the session if you just want someone to give critique.
