About Rachel
Earning a B.A in Near Eastern Archaeology and Egyptology from Brown University in 2023, I am now working in the Education department at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, CA. After a harrowing experience in the British Museum's Mummy exhibit at the age of 7, I developed a love of history that would eventually inspire me to study archaeology and share my knowledge with others.
While I have always loved learning, I experienced difficulties paying attention in the classroom, organizing my schoolwork, and adhering to deadlines. These issues lead me to receive a diagnosis of ADHD and Anxiety in Middle School. After my diagnosis, I received the accommodations I needed to thrive in school and tutoring that would teach me how to utilize my neurodivergent strengths and work on my weaknesses.
I believe that the benefits of tutoring go beyond helping a student with a specific subject, and I hope that the lessons students learn in my tutoring sessions can be applied throughout their academic journey and beyond. Through my tutoring, I aspire to instill within students a greater interest and understanding of history and its relevance in the modern world and teach important executive functioning skills, all while having fun in the process.

As a former student that dealt with anxiety and ADHD, I have a unique understanding of the challenges neurodivergent students face in a typical school setting. Tutoring played a vital role in my educational journey and future success in higher education. As a tutor, I hope to empower neurodivergent high school students by tutoring them in their desired subjects and helping them develop study and organizational skills that they can utilize in the future. Neurodivergent or not, each student learns uniquely, and I tailor my tutoring to fit a student's needs. Whether it be helping students outline and write essays, creating quizlets and sample exam questions, reviewing study guides, or assisting students in the development of executive functioning skills, I am willing to go the extra mile to help students reach their greatest potential while instilling a passion for history in the process.
