- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach Clarinet at all levels and ages (classical and jazz) and Music Theory.
A field of my teaching that I find especially relevant is improvisation. Be it a complete beginner who cannot read music yet, an advanced clarinettist or an adult learner, everyone can create music using minimal technical resources. Therefore, it is a very immediate way to make music!
- Tell me about your qualifications.
As for my training, I finished this year an Artist Diploma with Distinction 90% (post-Masters performance qualification) at the Royal College of Music.
Previously I gained my Masters Degree with Distinction at Trinity College of Music, London – MMus Performance (2009 - 2011)
I had also studied at the Ã‰cole Nationale de Musique â€œEdgar Vareseâ€ de Gennevilliers, Paris, France (2008 - 2009) and Royal Conservatoire of Music of Madrid, where I gained my Bachelor in Music with Distinction (2004-2008). I did a two years module in Pedagogy.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?
I teach all levels, from beginners to advanced. I enjoy equally working with children, young people or adults.
As a recipient of the Making Music Award for Young Concert Artist 2011, Clarinet and Sax Society Soloists Competition Prize 2010 and other awards, I enjoy an increasing number of recital and concerto engagements in the UK. Being taught by an active performer imparts to students the skills of communication and audience connection, which is vital for well-rounded musicians.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I have successfully prepared many pupils for Clarinet, Jazz Clarinet (including the aural test) and Music Theory ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall exams as well as ABRSM Music Medals. As an example, one of my students scored an outstanding 139 out of 140 in her grade 1 clarinet exam after one term of tuition. I have also entered successfully students for exams beyond grade 8 as the Diploma ABRSM or the performance exams within GCSE and A Levels; I prepared one of my students for music college auditions and he is now studying at Royal College of Music.
With regards to my teaching repertoire and lesson scheduling, I try to have a smart and detailed plan for every student depending on his/her background; and, as every good plan, it must be flexible to meet the circumstances in every particular session. I therefore try to keep the technical work more consistently in the periods where the students are not facing any exam soon and slightly shift towards their specific pieces when the exam is coming soon.
I enjoy preparing my pupils for ABRSM Music Medals as it is a flexible and encouraging test. It involves making a video recording which includes individual and group playing.
This kind of exams are very efficient to motivate the student to advance and to witness his/her improvement. Nonetheless, the sense of enjoyment through music is the core part of learning an instrument, regardless whether exams are involved. I always manage to get the student motivated with or without exams.

- What kind of experience do you have?
I have been a private clarinet and sax tutor in London since 2009 and am an ISM Approved Private Teacher since 2012. Currently I am a clarinet teacher at Royal College of Music Junior Department, Heathfield School, City Academy Hackney, Malorees School and Bishop Challoner School. In the past I have worked at Alton College, St Albans Music School and St Joan of Arc School in Rickmansworth (Hertfordshire Music Service), Dulwich Deeper Life Music School and Royal College of Music Teaching Service. Before coming to the UK three years ago, I taught clarinet for four years in Escuela de MÃºsica â€œEnclaveâ€ in Madrid. As a workshop leader, I have been engaged for the BBC Symphony Learning Department and Chroma Ensemble for different educational projects in various settings.
As a performer, I enjoy a busy freelance career: I have appeared with leading ensembles such as Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra Chroma, Colin Currie Group and Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid in major venues such as the Royal Albert hall, Royal Festival Hall and Cadogan Hall; I am currently a member of Southbank Sinfonia. As a soloist, I have recorded Copland Clarinet Concerto for BBC3 and I have performed concertos by Mozart, Nielsen, Spohr, Weber and Stanford. I have done solo recitals in Bridgewater Hall Manchester, St Martin in the Fields and music societies across the UK; I will play shortly my debut recital in the USA on the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Series in Chicago.
As for teaching training, I did a two years Pedagogy module in Royal Conservatoire of Music Madrid.

- Where and with whom did you train?
Even with an uprising career as recitalist and teacher, I have recently finished my studies at Royal College of Music with Janet Hilton (international soloist), Tim Lines (CBSO, LSO) and Richard Hosford (BBCSO). For two years I studied at Trinity College of Music with Joan Enric Lluna (international soloist) and Michael Whight (RPO). Previously I had studied in Paris with Nicolas Baldeyrou (principal clarinettist Radio France Symphony orchestra) and in Madrid with Justo Sanz and Javier Balaguer (principal clarinettist Spanish National Orchestra).
I have also had lessons with Yehuda Gilad (world-leading clarinet teacher), Michael Collins, Barnaby Robson, Arno Piters (Royal Concertgebow Orchestra)...

- Tell me about some of your current students.
I currently teach 5 private students, all ages and levels indeed. Please see one of my current students reference in the Media folder.
As a teacher I am committed to initiate and maintain good communications with students and employers and to communicate clearly and openly at all times. As an ISM Approved Private Teacher, I am used to provide a report on my students' progress every term. Even if I always try to have a chat with the parents when I have the chance to meet them (parentsÂ´evenings, concertsâ€¦) about how the pupil is doing, it is very appropriate to have an overall and more formal assessment that can help both the student and the parents. I also use the practice diary to keep some kind of continuous communication with the parents, where they can also provide some feedback about the daily difficulties the pupil may be experiencing.
I was a clarinet student of Daniel Broncano for two years, from 2007 to 2009.
Due to my age -I was born in 1955-, to my lack of previous knowledge on music theory and to my recreational aspirations on the clarinet, DanielÂ´s teaching provided me the basic technical skills to enjoy the instrument as well as beginning a long journey to discover many aspects of the music machinery. For that purpose, he based our lessons on the music worlds I was interested in: blues, flamenco and Spanish classical music.
I have known Daniel since 2009, when I became his professional mentor at Trinity Laban. Since completing the mentorship, Daniel has been employed by CHROMA on numerous high-profile occasions.
This on-going professional relationship has only happened as a result of Daniel conscientiousness, natural flair as a performer and diligence. He clearly understands that his role as a communicator is greatly enhanced by developing the ability to pass on his knowledge and skills to others through effective teaching.
