About Brazilian zouk: The moves of this partner dance evolved from the colorful, hip-shaking and playful Lambada, danced barefoot on the beaches of Rio, fusing with the music from Afro-Caribbean zouk. The result is a seamless, elastic, fun and super connected and communicative dance. It is big on technique - core, back and leg strength, flexibility and correctness of movement are important to feel good in this dance. Zouk has evolved and will keep evolving, so it can be danced to a variety of music genres, from lyrical instrumental, to funk and hip hop. You will get: Personalized lessons designed around your specific goals. Beginners - I invite you to break away from shyness, clumsiness and awkwardness on the dance floor. Learn the very basics of the music and rhythm, posture and breathing, and fundamentals of lead and follow. I will take you through the basic steps, then progress to turns and body movements. You will lead and follow a whole dance by 4 weeks of classes. Beyond beginners - Focusing on variations and technique, your leads will be comfortable and memorable to followers, and followers will confidently and blissfully express themselves through mastered connection.
