Every student is different, and so I approach each lesson based off what I've learnt from the student from our first meeting, as well as what I can observe is their learning style. This is the reason I prefer to teach 1-1 lessons, as I like to make an investment into one person at one time, to maximize their chances of grasping concepts. I like to use examples outside of textbooks if they help solidify learning. I believe that maths and stats have a bad reputation of being quite dull or boring, and that genuinely makes me sad as I have seen from my experience in industry how powerful these ideas are. This is something I try to inject into my lessons, a feeling of excitement and an encouragement to be bold enough to explore your curiosity.
I obtained BSc double majoring in mathematics and statistics in 2015, and then progressed to completing a BSc (Honours) degree in 2016. I have since worked as an actuarial analyst for government, as well as a data analyst for a startup called Halter Limited. I have tutored at the University of Auckland for courses such as STATS 10X, 20X and enjoying seeing students succeed.
